The Seven Stars, Winsley

After a rather tedious week at the start of the month, tensions were running high and some quality time was definitely needed.

Before going for a little walk around Frome and catching up over a coffee, Scott told me he was taking me out for dinner so that we could have some quality time together. So I got dressed up and we randomly selected a venue, which led us to an adorable little pub in the Wiltshire countryside.

The Seven Stars

The Seven Stars is a country pub in Winsley, Bradford-on-Avon which is just around the corner from where I work. As we often eat in Bath we decided to try something a little further afield and Scott spotted this one as being highly rated on TripAdvisor!

The pub is warm and instantly welcoming, with a traditional countryside feel to it – think brick walls, cosy decor and wooden furniture.

After sitting down at our table we were instantly loving the cute addition of Trivial Pursuit cards on every table. This is an awesome way to break the ice if you’re on a first date or just generally a lovely idea for passing time inbetween courses.

We spent most of the evening asking each other questions (I also polished off a whole bottle of Prosecco that I was treated to), which mainly resulted in us laughing at my sheer lack of geographical knowledge!

Now on to the most important thing, the food. Food which was perfectly cooked and delicious.

Instead of going down the traditional starter route we opted for a few nibbles between us. We chose the homemade bread, the pork crackling with apple sauce and the teriyaki cocktail sausages.

For main I chose the steak, which I usually steer clear of unless I’m in a place that specialises in steak. Despite my scepticism, it was so tasty and was cooked perfectly for me (medium). Scott opted for the roast lamb with all the trimmings which he said was incredible.

The staff were welcoming and bubbly, but also gave us the time and space to enjoy our meal and enjoy some much needed us time.

This little pub had really great ratings, but neither of us expected it to be quite as good as it was! We will definitely be going back for one of their regular quiz nights to enjoy some more of the food and to see it when it’s more lively!
